PQRS is a square,
Given: PQ=5
To find: diagonal QS=?

Solution: The formula of diagonal of a square is

Now, a square has all its sides equal and angles equal to 90°.
And QS is the diagonal
so, if take ∆PQS as a right angled triangle and PQ and PS as base and perpendicular, then we would have to find QS that is the hypotenuse.
H2 =P2+B2
H = √ (5×5) +(5×5)
H =√50. ( now, √50=7.07) approximately
so, QS IS 7.07 units
