In resonance tube

Wavelength= 2(L2 - L1)

Wavelength= 2(48-15)= 66 cm

Velocity = 66/100 × 500 = 330m/s

Given:

In resonance tube

L_1=15 cm,L_2=48 cm

Frequency, f=500 cps

To find:

Velocity of the sound

Solution:

For resonance tube

\lambda=2(L_2-L_1)

Using the formula

\lambda=2(48-15)=66 cm

1 m=100 cm

Therefore,

66 cm=\frac{66}{100}m=0.66 m

\lambda=0.66 m

Velocity, v=f\times\lambda

Using the formula

v=0.66\times 500=330 m/s

Hence, the velocity of sound=330 m/s
