Given that :
In right triangle
base= 9cm and height= 40cm
hypotenuse= ?

We know that,
by Pythagoras theorem-
base^2 + height^2 = hypotenuse^2
Putting the values of base and height in above relation , we get
9^2+ 40^2= hypotenuse^2
81+1600= hypotenuse^2
1681= hypotenuse^2
41^2= hypotenuse^2
so,
Hypotenuse= 41 cm
