A die has 6 faces marked as 1 ,2, 3 ,4, 5 and 6.
In case of 1 die, possible outcomes are 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
Total number of outcomes=6
Let E be the event of getting a number less than 4.
Favourable outcomes to the event E are= 1,2,3
So the number of favourable outcomes= 3
P (E) = number of favourable outcomes/ total number of outcomes
P(E)= 3/6
P(E) = ½
Hence, the probability of getting a number less than 4 is ½.
