In multicellular organisms, there are a number of cells inside the body. Multicellular organisms have a complex body structure and also many organs inside the body and these all are composed of cells. As respiration can only occur in outer environment so the cells present inside the body cannot meet the need of oxygen and respiration can not take place in inner body cells. Hence, diffusion cannot take place in multicellular organisms to meet the need of oxygen for respiration.
