Now from the diagram the sum of the diameters equal to the length of the rectangle.

x + 2x = 21

3x = 21

x = 7 cm

The diameters are as follows :

Large semicircle = 14 cm

Area of a semicircle = 1/2 × pie × r²

Small semicircle = 0.5 × (7/2)² × 22/7

= 19.25 cm²

Large semicircle = 0.5 × (14/2)² × 22/7 = 77 cm²

Area of the rectangle = length × Width = 21 × 10.5 = 220.5 cm²

Total area o the shaded part = 77 + 19.5 = 96.25
