a parachute works by creating drag by increasing surface area. Drag is a type of friction. If friction is absent, drag will also be absent and parachute will fall like a stone due to absence of drag.

because due the friction between the parachute and air the balance is mainted otherwise without friction there will be no movement between parachute and air and as a result it will fall like a ston on the ground

SKABDYT:
Parachute works on the principle of the Newtons 1 st Law Dynamic inertia and also the drag produced by the lower surface of parachute. where parachute is pushed up because of Air [common observation] Whenever there is Absence of friction the parachute dosen't get effected of drag and falls like a stone [ As proved by Galeleo in his leaning tower's vaccum experiment]
