When there would be no micro-organisms on the earth, the earth would become a heap of dead plants and animals. This is because micro-organisms decompose dead bodies of plants and animals. They replenish nutrients which are present in the ground. This helps plants' to get required nutrients. This in turn, gives higher yield. People get food from the edible materials produced by the plant

as microorganisms act as decomposers ... they help in recycling nutrients by decomposing dead matter.
in absence of microorganisms no decomposition will take place .
