DNA polymerase other than polymerising DNA also helps in proofreading the DNA. During replication, when wrong bases are inserted mistakenly then DNA polymerase  go back and remove them  through its exonuclease activity.

 

Ligases are the enzymes that catalyse the linking together of two compounds; e.g., enzymes catalysing the joining of C − O, C − S, C − N bonds.

 DNA ligase join the DNA fragments by forming phosphodiester bonds.
