In the adjoining figure, circles with centres A and C touch internally at T. AB is tangent to the smaller circle at P . point B lies on the bigger circle. radii are 16 cm and 6 cm . find AP.

construction = join PC.

Now AB is a tangent to circle with centre C
Angle APC= 90 degree..........tangent theorem
In right angle triangle APC,
AC=10Cm
PC=6cm

 {ap }^{2}  +  {pc }^{2}  =  {ac}^{2}
by using above pythagoras theorem,
we get,
AP =8cm
