Area of shaded region is 10.5 cm.

Given

To find the area of the shaded region.

From the adjoining figure, the length of rectangle is 28 cm.

The rectangle is divided into two parts along with the length it looks like two squares and two circles so the length 28 cm becomes 14 cm.

Square and circle has diameter 14 cm.

Hence, the radius is 14/2 = 7 cm.

Area of shaded region = 1/4 × ( Area of square - Area of circle )

Finding area of square :

Area of square = side × side

                         =  14 × 14

Area of square = 196 cm.

Finding area of circle :

Area of circle = πr²

                       = \frac{22}{7} × 7 × 7

                       = 22 × 7

Area of circle = 154 cm.

Finding area of shaded region :

Area of shaded region = 1/4 × ( Area of square - Area of circle )

                                      = 1/4 × (196 - 154)

                                      =  1/4 × 42

                                      = 10.5 cm.

Therefore, area of shaded region is 10.5 cm.
