Area of shaded region = Area of square - Area of 2 semi circles

= a² - πr²/2

= 8² - 22/7 × (8/2)²/2

= 64 - 22/7 × 4²/2

= 64 - 22/7 × 8

= 64 - 25.14

= 38.86 cm²

Therefore, the area of shaded region is 38.86 cm²
