In the apple logo, the bite was added to the silhouette of to distinguish the fruit from a cherry.

,Only if you want one to exist, but both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne decided to have a bite in the apple, both so everyone knew it was an apple, and not a cherry f.ex. and a “byte” is a computer word.
Another hypothesis is that Alan Turing died from eating an apple laced with cyanide, but that one has been turned down.
Woz is a guy who has no secrets, he would tell us if there was a story behind it.
The original Apple logo was sir Isaac Newton sitting under a tree with apples. Steve Jobs did work on an apple farm.
So, this is just an Apple with a Byte in it.
Both Steves were atheists besides the fact, I guess Ronald was as well. I wish they had thought of Alan Turing, as he was gay and Ronald is gay. But it just wasn’t that deep.
Another reason I heard for the name was to be among the first ones in the phone book.
