Answer:

Explanation:

In the story "Sparrows" by K A Abbas,Rahim Khan is a middle aged man who is portrayed as the cruelest face of patriarchy. He is married to a woman 30 years before the present time of the plot. His wife is described as a shy little girl at the time of their marriage whose opinion was not even cared about. She is described as a Sheep while Rahim Khan was described as the Butcher. She is a woman of great tolerance. For 30 years she has been tolerating all the beatings and ill treatment towards her and she accepted all of it as a fake. She had submitted herself like a slave to Rahim Khan and it seemed unnatural to her if a week passed without Rahim Khan beating her. His wife is portrayed as a lady of submission, the exact way all the ladies were supposed to be treated at the time the story is based upon. She is a caring wife who took care of her husband after a heavy day of work, serving him water to clean up when he came home, to cook and clean up, to wake him up early in the morning, all these were her duties. At the end of the story when she hears about her husband she runs back to him, only to find him dead. This shows that even after such tortures and tormentations on her she loved her husband. Rahim Khan's wife is an image of love care and submission as is described and stereotypically expected out of women even now.
