In the circuit shown in the figure (32-E13), ε1 = 3 V, ε2 = 2 V, εa = 1 V and r1 = r2 = r3 = 1Ω. Find the potential difference between the points A and B and the current through each branch.

i1 - i2 + i1 + 2 -1 = -1    … (1) Similarly, for loop 2:

i2 - i2 - i1 – 2 + 3 = -1    …(2)Solving (1) and (2), we obtain:

i1 = i2 = 1 A

Between A and B, the potential difference would be:

VA – VB = E2 - i1 - i2 \times 1 = 2 V

Current via the bottom division = i1 = 1 A

Current via the middle division = i1 – i2 = 0 A

Current via the top division = i2 = 1 A
