In the cold countries the snow is cleared on the roads by sprinkling sodium chloride. How does it happ ? Explain​

Salt water has a lower freezing point than pure water. So when being sprinkled on icy roads it doesn't freeze and it prevents the refreezing of the ice that's already present on the road, thereby effectively reducing the amount of ice present on the road.
