by newtons 3rd law of motion :

TO EVERY ACTION, THERE IS AN EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION

thus F1 = F2 ............ as they are equal

and the final relation is

F1 = - F2 ...................... since they are equal and opposite

here - minus sign states the word 'opposite'
