In the electrolysis of water,

a) Name the gas collected at anode and cathode

b) Why is the volume of gas collected at one electrode double than the other?

c) What would happen if dil H2SO4 is not added to water?

brainly5678: concentrated sulphuric acid is added because it acts as an electrolite and helps ikn conduction of electricity with the help of ions

Answer: (a) gas is collected at thecathode and gas is at anode. (1) (b) The gas which is collected in double the amount in the electrolysis of water experiment is hydrogen. This is because contains 2 parts of hydrogen element and 1 part of oxygen element by volume.

Hope its helpful for you.

Answer:

In electrolysis of water :

a ) . Hydrogen gas collected at cathode. And oxygen gas gas collect at anode.

b ) . We know that in water there is 2 hydrogen atom and 1 oxygen atom. That's why volume of gas collected at one electrode double than the other.

c ) . Pure water is a bad conductor of electricity when we add drops of dil

sulphuric acid we make it a good conductor of electricity.
