in the experiment , to determine the density of a given solid by using a spring balance and a measure of cylinder , a student made the following observations.i) mass of solid = 113 g ii) initial reading of water level in measuring cylinder = 35ml iii) Final reading of water level in measuring cylinder =79 ml on the basis of these observations , what should be the density of the given solid if spring balance showed a reading of -2 g before suspending the solid ?

mass = 113g

initial reading v1 = 35ml

final reading v2 = 79ml

As spring balance showed a reading of -2g,

Total mass now = 113-2 = 111g

∴ Volume of solid = v2-v1 = 79-35 = 44ml OR g/cm^{3}

Density = mass/volume = 111/44

Ans) 2.52 gm/cm^3 (approx.)
