Answer:

Option (b) 3.6

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

ABC is a right triangle, right angled at B.

BD is perpendicular to AC.

AB = 6 cm, BD = 4.8 cm, AC = 10 cm.

{Note : BD can not be 8 cm, it should be 4.8 cm }

To find :

The length of AD.

Solution :

Since, BD is perpendicular to AC,

therefore, ADB will also be a right triangle.

By Pythagoras theorem,

=> AD^2 = AB^2 - BD^2

=> AD^2 = 6^2 -(4.8^2)

=> AD^2 = (6 + 4.8)×(6 - 4.8)

=> AD^2 = 10.8 × 1.2

=> AD^2 = 9 × (1.2)^2

=> AD = 3 × 1.2

=> AD = 3.6 cm.

Hence, the length of AD = 3.6 cm.

Thus, option (b) 3.6 is correct.
