Given :  O is the centre of the circle.

AB is a chord,

OP perpendicular AB,

radius = 5cm, OP=3cm.  

To Find : length AB  

Solution:

OP perpendicular AB,

Hence P divided AB   => PA = PB = AB/2

OP = 3  cm   OA = OB = radius  =  5 cm

Using Pythagoras theorem

OA² = OP² + PA²

=> 5² = 3² + PA²

=> PA = 4 cm

AB = 2 * PA = 2 * 4 = 8 cm

Length of AB = 8 cm
