Diameter = 28

Than

Radius = 28/2

= 14

Area of figures = area of rectangle-2xarea of semicircles

= LxB - 2x Pie r^2/2

=40x28- 22/7x14x14

= 1120-616

= 504

Similarly
Perimeter of fig. = 2(L+B) -2(2pie r/2)

2(40+28)-2x22/7x14

= 2(68)-88

= 136-88

= 48

perimeter of the shaded region  is 48 cm

area of the shaded region is 504 cm ²

Step-by-step explanation:

given : diameter = 28 cm

then radius = 14 cm

length of the rectangle = 40 cm

breadth of the rectangle = 28 cm

we know that 2 semi circle of same diameter forms a circle

then

perimeter of the rectangle = 2 (l+b)

= 2(40+28)

= 136 cm

perimeter of circle =

2\pi r \\\\2\times \frac{22}{7}\times 14 \\\\88 cm

then perimeter of the shaded region = perimeter of rectangle - perimeter of circle

= 136 - 88

= 48 cm

now , area of rectangle = length × breadth

= 40×28 = 1120 cm ²

area of the circle

\pi r ^2 \\\\\frac{22}{7}\times 14\times 14

= 616 cm²

area of the shaded region = area of rectangle - area of circle

= 1120 - 616

= 504 cm ²

hence ,  perimeter of the shaded region  is 48 cm

area of the shaded region is 504 cm ²
