and AD is perpendicular bisector
this means DC is equal to 5 cm
by doing it BC divided by 2
now AC is 13 cm
applying Pythagoras theorem
hypotenuse² is equal to base² + altitude²
so AC²=DC²+AD²
So 13²=5²+AD²
169=25+AD²
169-25=144=AD²
AD=√144
AD=12
