Answer:

area of larger square= 2a×2a=4a^2

area of smaller square = a×a= a^2

area of shaded portion is area of larger square - area of smaller square = 4a^2-a^2

=3a^2

GIVEN:

  • Side of larger square = 2a units
  • Side of smaller square = a units

TO FIND:

  • Find the area of shaded reason ?

SOLUTION:

We have given that the side of the larger square and smaller square is 2a and a respectively.

To find the area of the square, we use the formula:-

\large\rm\red{\star \: Area \: of \: square = a^2 \: \star }

Area of larger square:-

\sf{\mapsto Area \:of \: larger\: square = (2a)^2}

\sf\red{\mapsto\: \star\:Area \:of \: larger\: square =  4a^2\: \star}

❛ Area of larger square = 4a² ❜

Area of smaller square:-

\sf{\mapsto Area \:of \: smaller\: square = (a)^2}

\sf\red{\mapsto\: \star Area \:of \: smaller\: square =  a^2\: \star}

❛ Area of smaller square = a² ❜

Area of shaded region = (Area of larger square Area of smaller square)

\sf{\implies\: Area \: of\: shaded\: region  = 4a^2 - a^2 }

\large\sf\red{\implies = \star\: Area \:of \:shaded\: \:region = 3a^2 \: \star }

❛ Hence, the area of the shaded region is 3a² ❜
