In the following reaction, identify the species that undergoes – (i) Oxidation (ii) Reduction Give reasons also.
Fe(s) + Ni2+ (aq) → Fe2+ (aq) + Ni(s)​

Fe = Oxidation

Ni^(+2)= reduction

Explanation:

As loss of electrons is Oxidation in Fe 2 electrons are lost to give Fe +2  so it is oxidised similarly gain of electrons is reduction and here Ni+2 gained 2 electrons to form Ni hence it is reduced
