in the formation ofa compound XY atoms X gives one electron to an atom of Y .What is the nature of bond in XY?

According to me the bond formed is Ionic bond.

As the question mentions that X gives an electron to Y thus it cant be a covalent bond as in covalent bond sharing of electrons take place.

So answer is Ionic bond.
