|| ✰✰ ANSWER ✰✰ ||

→ The uniform scale means that the mass is at 25 cm from P ..

Let W be the wt. of the scale,By principal of moments,

→ For the balance, the moment of forces on both sides of knife edge will be equal.

So,

mg * (25-15) = 15 * (50-15)

→ mg * 10 = 15 * 35

→ mg = (15*35)/10

→ mg = 52.5gm . (Ans a) = Mass of The scale .

___________________________

(b) Force on The knife Edge :-

→ Force on The knife edge is Total mass * Total Gravity .

So,

Force = ( 0.0525kg + 0.035kg) * 10N/kg = 0.875 N

or,

Force = Total mass = (52.5gm + 35gm) = 87.5gm.

____________________________

(C) The direction in which The force on the Knife edge Acts :-

→ The force acts normal to the surface.. opposite to the direction of the force due to the weight of the body.

So,

The Force on the knife edge acts in downward Direction.
