from the above figure

triangle ABD is a right angled triangle

by Pythagoras theorem

DB=AD+AB

20=AD+12

20-12=AD

8=AD

triangle DBC is an equilateral triangle

so, BC=DC=DB=20cm

Area of quadrilateral=area of triangle ADB+area of triangle DBC

area of quadrilateral= (1/2)base × height +( a^2(√3)/4)

=(1/2)12×8+((√3)/4)(20)^2

=48+173.21

=221.21cm^2ans
