Given :  square has been divided into two rectangle

the sum of the perimeter of the rectangle is 54 CM

To Find  :   perimeter of the square

Solution:

Let say square side = a cm

perimeter of square = 4a cm

Square is divide into 2 rectangles

Hence one line parallel to one side of square will divide adjacent side in two  sides

Let say two sides are b and c  where b + c = a

so we get two rectangles

one is with sides a , b  and another with sides a , c

Sum of Perimeter of rectangles =  2 (a  + b)  + 2(a + c)

= 2(2a + b + c )

= 2 (2a  + a)

= 2 (3a)

= 6a

6a = 54

=> a= 9

=> 4a = 36 cm

perimeter of the square  is 36 cm
