the trapezium ABCD  is divided into a triangle and a rectangle

we need to find length of the missing side

by Pythagoras theorem, we can find the lengh of that side

15^2 + x^2 = 17^2

225 + x^2 = 289

            x^2= 289 -225

                  =61

             x = \sqrt{61}

area of triangle = 1/2x b x h

                          = 1/2 x 15 x \sqrt{61}

                           =15\sqrt{61}/2

area of the rectangle = 8 x \sqrt{61} =8\sqrt{61}

area of the rectangle is (area of triangle )+(area of rectangle )

                    =      8\sqrt{61} +   5\sqrt{61}/2
