Solution :-

since AB is parallel to CD . so, ABCD must be a trapezium .

we know that, in trapezium ,

  • The diagonals of a trapezium divide each other proportionally .

so,

→ AO/CO = BO/DO

putting given values we get,

→ 5/(4x - 2) = (2x + 4)/(2x - 1)

→ 5(2x - 1) = (4x - 2)(2x + 4)

→ 10x - 5 = 8x² + 16x - 4x - 8

→ 8x² + 2x - 3 = 0

→ 8x² - 4x + 6x - 3 = 0

→ 4x(2x - 1) + 3(2x - 1) = 0

→ (4x + 3)(2x - 1) = 0

→ x = (-3/4) and (1/2) .
