∠EDA=∠CBA (Corresponding angles)

ΔADE is similar to ΔABC

Therefore, by similarity of triangles,

\frac{AD}{AB}=\frac{DE}{BC}

\frac{AD}{AD+BD} =\frac{DE}{BC}

Substituting the values, we have
