In the given figure, QR is parallel to AB and DR is parallel to QB. Prove that : PQ² = PD × PA

in the given figure, QR is parallel to AB,

According to basic proportionality theorem,

PQ/PA = PR/PB ...............(1)

Also it is given that, DR is parallel to QB.

According to basic proportionality theorem,

PD/PQ = PR/PB ................(2)

Now, from equations (1) and (2),

PQ/PA = PD/PQ

Or, PQ.PQ = PA × PD

Hence, PQ² = PA.PD = PD. PA
