hence we can apply Pythagoras theorem

hypotenuse ²= sum of sq. of other two sides

here, hypotenuse= 20m(side opposite to right angle)

other two sides are 12m and x

20²= 12² + x²

400= 144+x²

x² = 400-144

x=√256

x= 16m

2.One of the given angle is 90°

hence we can apply Pythagoras theorem

hypotenuse ²= sum of sq. of other two sides

here, hypotenuse= 13m(side opposite to right angle)

other two sides are 12m and x

13²= 12²+ x²

169= 144+ x²

x²= 169-144

x=√ 25

x= 5m
