Given : triangle PQR,LM is parallel to QR and PM:MR=3:4.

To find : ratio of: (i)PL/PQ and LM/QR

Solution:

Δ PQR

LM  ║ QR

=> PL/PQ  = PM/MR

=> PL/LQ  = 3/4

=> PL/ (PQ - PL) = 3/4

=>> 4 PL = 3PQ  - 3PL

=> 7PL = 3 PQ

=> PL/PQ = 3/7

Δ PQR

LM  ║ QR

=> ΔPLM ≈ ΔPQR

=> PL/PQ  = LM/QR

=> 3/7    = LM/QR

Hence LM/QR = 3/7
