BUT,
The Merchant of Venice was written in the Elizabethan era. This was the time when social evils like racism, discrimination based on social status, gender, caste, creed was at its peek. People like Portia were considered as the main characters of stories
Even shakespeare has portrayed her as a character who is the best woman in the world, best in behavior, looks , thoughts etc
So, in the play's point of view we cannot say that Portia is a racist, it would be wrong to do so
