in the play of merchant of venice why is antonio sad in the beginning of the play ?explain

antonio says that he is unaware of why he is sad. When he is asked by his friends he says that he is neither in love nor is he worried about his argosies which is bound to far off places in the seas. So as a whole he might be sad because of unknown premonitions that have come to his mind.
