in the poem fire and ice ,poet is  presenting two different belief regarding the end of the world.first belief is that the world will end by fire which signifies uncontrolled and unending desires of human being.
second belief is that world will end because of ice which signifies hatred, our mind and body will become numb because of hatred.

The poet says that both fire and ice are destructive. Here fire stands for the heat of desire and ice stands for hatred He thinks that our violent desires will end the world. If it survives, it will be ruined by hatred.
