Answer: x=4,y=2

Explanation:

Be_{2}C+xH_{2}O =>yBe(OH)_2}+CH_{4}  \\Or, Be_{2}C+4H_{2}O =>2Be(OH)_2}+CH_{4}  \\

Total Be in LHS=2, so, y=2

and after putting y=2 in RHS, the total 'O' in RHS is 4, so, x=4
