Miss Fairchild's character is interesting because of some of the following reasons;

  1. She is easily gullible due to feelings she has feelings for Mr. Easton and cannot see past these feelings that is why she is gullible to lies by Mr. Easton.
  2. She is not materialistic because despite her being rich she told the two men in she was talking to about the West that money is not everything.
  3. She is outgoing and social because she talked to the two other men she met about the west.
  4. She is attractive because she is described as a rich, young woman with a gloss of style and manner from this description we also see that she is well behaved and disciplined.
  5. She is confident because she spoke to Mr. Easton with a full, sweet and deliberate voice.
