ANSWER:

In the story new doll, the old man regained his reputation of doll maker by making the dolls again for his granddaughter.

EXPLANATION:

The story New Doll by Rabindranath Tagore is about an eighty-year old doll maker who makes dolls for royal princess. Once in an annual doll festival, a new craftsman entered in the royal court and displayed his modern and new ways of doll making.

Hence, the old man was not able to sell his dolls that year. As the years passed, everyone forgot old man’s name. One day, his grand daughter asked him to make a doll for him which she eventually sold for a gold rupee. This way the old man regained his reputation as a doll maker in the eyes of his granddaughter.
