In the structure of SiO2 there are two silicon atoms but in the formula there is only one. please explain why with full reason

Silicon has two atoms as it's valency and oxygen has 1 atom as it's valency however.... When you write it's chemical formula their valency get exchanged so silicon has one atom and oxygen has 2 which looks like SiO²
