In thermite process, the reducing agent is aluminium.why?

Aluminum is used in thermite process as a reducing agent because it is inexpensive and easily available. Moreover it has a very high boiling point. During the thermite process a lot of heat is produced when aluminum is used which melts other metals too. So it is very advantageous.
