These are the steps involved :

2x + 4/8 = 18/8.

Next is , we take the LCM of L.H.S. ,

So, LCM is 8.

Therefore { (2x × 8) + 4 } / 8 = 9/4 .

( We reduced 18 / 8 to 9/4 by canceling 18/8 with 2 ).

(16x + 4) /8 = 9/4

Now, we transpose 8 to RHS and 4 to LHS.

So, we get :

(16x + 4)×4 = 9×8.

{Division becomes multiplication on transposing} .

Next is,

Opening the brackets ,

64x + 16 = 72.

So,. 64x = 72-16

64x = 56

Therefore , x = 56/64.

And that is it...!
