Do you see that AEDF is a rectangle? Now its area is the multiplication of each breadth and height.

Hint: The breadth and height is related to four triangles.

The ratio of the two sides is equal.

ΔAED ≈ ΔDEB

→ AE : ED = DE : EB

∴ED² = AE × EB, furthermore ED = √AE × EB

ΔAFD ≈ ΔDFC

→ AF : FD = DF : FC

∴FD² = AF × FC, furthermore FD = √AF × FC

ED × FD is the area of the rectangle. Now let's find the multiplication of both equations.

→ ED × FD = √AE × EB × AF × FC therefore proved.
