In triangle ABC,A-P-B,A-Q-C and linesegment PQ is parallel to line segment BC.IF AP/PB=3/4 and AC=17.5,find AQ​

Answer:

In triangle ABC

PQ is parallel to BC

therefore by Basic proportionality theorem

AP/PB=AQ/QC

let AQ be x

therefore QC is 17.5-x

therefore

3/4=x/(17.5-x)

3(17.5-x)=4x

52.5-3x =4x

7x=52.5

x=AQ=7.5

If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle intersecting the other two sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
