Given : In triangle ABC AB= 5 , BD = 3 and DC= 4

BD ⊥ AC

To Find :   length of AC

Solution:

BD ⊥ AC

=> ΔABD is right angle triangle

Apply Pythagoras theorem

AB² = BD² + AD²

=> 5²  = 3² + AD²

=> AD = 4

AC =  AD  + DC

AC = 4 + 4

=> AC 8  

Length of AC = 8
