Answer:

Given:DE||BC,AD=6cm,DB=9cm,AE=8cm

To find:AC

Solution:DE||BC in triangle ABC

so,AD/DB=AE/EC. [By BPT]

6/9=8/EC

2/3=8/EC

By cross multiplying

24=2EC

EC=12cm

Now,AC=AE+EC

AC=8+12

AC=20cm
