Let ABC is a ∆ whose base is AB . D is a point on AB such that and

B=3cm.

Thus AD=AB-DB= 5–3 =2cm.

Join C to D .

draw a perpendicular CP on AB

.Area of ∆ ADC/Area of ∆ABC. =

1/2×CP×AD/1/2×CP×AB.=AD/

AB=2cm/5cm=2/5. or. 2 : 5. Answer
