DE//BC
ie., AD/DB=AE/EC. {by BT}
X/X+1=X+3/X+5
X(X+5)=(X+1)(X+3)
X^+5X=X^+3X+X+3
5X-3X-X-3=0
X-3=0
X=3

Answer:

The value of x is 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

Triangle ABA, DE || BC, so by Basic Proportionality theorem,

AD / DB = AE / EC

Step 2:

Substituting the values, we get,

x / x - 2 = x + 2 / x - 1

Step 3:

By cross multiplying, we get,

X (x - 1) = ( x + 2) ( x - 2)

x^2 - x = x^2 - 4

x = 4
